Our mission is to bridge the information gap between professional and amateur athletes. We attempt to level the playing field and democratize sport. We believe that every athlete should have the information and tools they need to reach their potential.

STACK delivers advice and information from the nation's top coaches, trainers, strength & conditioning specialists, nutritionists, sports psychologists and other experts who help athletes achieve their goals. Among them:

  • Chip Smith - Chip Smith Performance Systems

    The founder of Chip Smith Performance Systems (Atlanta, GA), Smith is recognized as one of the foremost experts in the field of speed and strength training in the United States. He has trained more than 200 current NFL players and over 40 first round NFL Draft picks.

  • Michael Johnson - Michael Johnson Performance

    During the 1990s, Johnson became known as the “Fastest Man in the World” by earning 13 Olympic and World Championship medals, all of them gold. He set world records in the 200 meters, 400 meters and 4x400-meter relay. After retiring in 2001, Johnson opened Michael Johnson Performance to help athletes of all ages and sports reach their full potential, using the same training techniques he used as an athlete.

  • Mark Verstegen - EXOS

    As the founder and president of EXOS, formerly Athletes’ Performance and Core Performance, Verstegen leads more than 500 employees at the company’s performance centers in Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas. He serves as the director of performance for the NFL Players Association, and he has consulted for high-performance companies such as adidas, EAS, SKLZ and Keiser. Verstegen pioneered the concept of integrated performance training and has brought the system to many of the world’s top athletes as well as the United States military.

  • Mike Boyle

    Over the past 30 years, Boyle has established himself as one of the world’s leading strength and conditioning specialists. He’s trained the U.S. Women’s Olympic soccer and ice hockey teams, Boston Bruins, Boston Breakers and New England Revolution. In 2012, he joined the Boston Red Sox coaching staff as a strength and conditioning consultant.

  • Todd Durkin

    Durkin is the founder of Fitness Quest 10 in San Diego, Calif., which has been named one of the “Top 10 Gyms in America.” He’s trained Super Bowl MVP quarterbacks Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, an Olympic gold medalist, X Games gold medalists and Heisman trophy winners. A two-time Personal Trainer of the Year, Durkin currently serves as the head of the Under Armour Performance Training Council.

  • Nick Palazzo - CEO

    As CEO of STACK Media, Nick does a bit of everything, but his primary focus is business development and overall company strategy. A 2003 cum laude graduate of Harvard College, Nick compiled a distinguished athletic and academic record. As a running back, he finished among Harvard's all-time leading rushers and scorers, earning the Vic Gatto, Buzz Crain and Henry Lamar Awards during his career. Nick was also honored as a Harvard Scholar, a Holland Scholar and Harvard's nominee to the National Scholar-Athlete Hall of Fame and Academic All-Ivy League.

    "STACK was born out of a passion for inspiring and educating athletes. The most meaningful and rewarding part of being a part of STACK is when we hear from athletes, coaches and parents that we’ve made an impact and helped them reach their goals. That means the world to me."

  • Chad Zimmerman - President

    As President of STACK, Chad is laser-focused on audience development initiatives to reach and serve the needs of millions of athletes, their parents and coaches, trainers and nutritionists. In 2004, Chad earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology, where he also played football. An All-America honoree, Chad was a team captain, four-year starter and three-time First Team All-Conference selection.

  • Jeff Lucier - Chairman and Editor-in-Chief

    As STACK's Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Jeff is involved in all strategic decisions. He also contributes his expertise in the area of editorial quality control. Jeff has spent most of his career in the publishing business. A native of New Hampshire and a graduate of Union College and the University of Chicago, he taught English at Northwestern University for two years. In 1979, he acquired Banks-Baldwin Law Publishing Company, served as its CEO for sixteen years, and, in 1993, sold it to West Publishing Company.

  • Peter Johnson - Vice Chairman and COO

    Peter is the former CEO, Sports & Entertainment at IMG, the largest Sports, Entertainment and Media Company in the world. During his thirty year tenure, he was responsible for the management and marketing of three NFL MVPs, the world #1 male and female tennis players, a world #1 female golfer, a world heavyweight boxing champion and numerous NFL and NBA All-Stars. Peter received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his BS from the University of Delaware.

  • Josh Staph - SVP, Content

    Josh is the Senior Vice President, Content at STACK Media, overseeing content strategy, editorial production and custom content campaigns for the Company's marketing partners. In 2002, Josh graduated from Harvard College Cum Laude with a degree in economics. He was the starting running back for Harvard's 2001 undefeated, nationally ranked football team; and following the season, he was selected as a Division I Academic All-American.

  • Carl Mehlhope - SVP, Integrated Sales and Partnerships

    Based in STACK’s New York office, Carl is Senior Vice President, Integrated Sales and Partnerships. He joined the Company shortly after its founding in 2005. Carl is in charge of developing partnerships with marketers who want to engage and empower athletes. Prior to STACK, he spent 17 years at Time, Inc., where he worked primarily on campaigns for People Magazine.

    "Page Cotton, my college soccer coach at Depauw, lined up the seniors after our final game and told us to "find a way to give back to the game, it has given you a lot." He was right. STACK and the content we produce help athletes and fitness enthusiasts on a daily basis, so coach, I am doing what you told me."

  • Craig Vavrock - VP, Finance and Operations

    As STACK’s Vice President of Finance and Operations, Craig oversees all financial and administrative functions for the Company, from budgeting and forecasting to payroll and human resources. He received both his bachelor’s degree and MBA in Accounting from Baldwin-Wallace University, where he also extended his athletic career as a three-year football letterman. He also played one post-grad season for the semi-pro Cleveland Lions football team.

  • Bronwyn Young - Controller

    As Controller at STACK, Bronwyn is in charge of improving accounting processes, financial reporting and administrative functions across the company. She has a strong background with over 7 years of experience in accounting and auditing, including time spent with Aleris Corporation and Ernst & Young. Bronwyn graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Masters of Science in Accounting.

  • Royce Cho - Chief Technical Officer

    Royce brings over 12 years of professional experience in a broad spectrum of technologies, including aircraft engine control & diagnostics, corporate social networks, enterprise business tools supporting health research and Fortune 500 retailers, paid traffic systems supporting tens of millions of dollars in annual spend, on-demand and live video streaming, and networked fitness hardware and software. He has been involved in several fast growing startups as a founder or first employee. Royce holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.

  • Brian Sabin - Executive Editor

    AS STACK’s Executive Editor, Brian works with the editorial staff to come up with stories that help athletes reach their goals, whether going from benchwarmer to varsity or from casual runner to Boston marathoner. Previously, Brian spent five years at Runner’s World, where he launched the brand’s web video portal and oversaw the magazine’s coverage of shoes and gear. He also spent a year as a managing editor of LIVESTRONG.com.

    "My position at STACK is a dream job, because it gives me the opportunity to learn from smart, talented people and share that information to help athletes at all levels improve. At STACK, we aim to provide the best information in sports fitness and nutrition so our readers can work smart."

  • Carrie Nagy Swain - Senior Digital Marketing Manager

    As Digital Marketing Manager at STACK, Carrie manages all aspects of STACK’s social channels, campaigns and content syndication. She also manages the STACK Brand Ambassador program and community outreach efforts. She has eight years of experience in marketing and a graduate degree in Digital Marketing from West Virginia University. Most of her spring and summer is spent watching baseball.

    "STACK is my dream job! I get to spend the day doing what I love, with great people and better myself with all I learn from STACK content."

  • Scott Stachiw - Executive Digital Producer

    As Executive Digital Producer, Scott manages custom content and produces original video series with top athletes and fitness brands in the country. He began his professional career in film as an actor, voice-over artist and director. In 2006, he transitioned to the production and editing side of video, and has spear-headed STACK's innovative video platform since. He was a state hurdler in high school and ran the 110m and 400m hurdles for Lindenwood University.

    "I love every aspect of visual storytelling and enjoy using this passion to help other athletes gain knowledge and insight into the world of sports."

  • Brandon Dubose - Digital Producer

    Brandon DuBose is a professional camera operator / producer whose experience extends over a decade within the field. His style notably combines highly technical skills with artistic creativity, leaving his work refined but also marked by an undertone of artistic expression. Originally from Los Angeles, Brandon has spent most of his life playing competitive sports.

    "There's nothing worse than watching your talent waste away. STACK allows me to invest all of my efforts towards making sure every young athlete is able to live up to his or her true potential."

  • Eben Caldwell - Art Director

    Eben brings nearly 20 years of design experience working in agency and corporate environments with organizations like Kaiser Permanente and Ernst & Young. He has worked on everything from logo design to online learning and has always brought an attention and eye for design no matter what the medium is. As a husband and father of four Eben spends his time coaching youth sports and participating in as many family oriented outdoor activities as possible i.e. 5k's, white water rafting, biking, etc...

    "After spending several years designing for accountants and health insurance it is perfect for me to be at STACK and designing to, discussing sports, coaching and improving athletes (especially youth athletes) experiences."

  • Matt Thompson - Lead Web Developer

    An expert in computer programming, Matt is STACK's Lead Web Developer. Prior to joining STACK, he worked as the lead developer and as a member of the executive team for an international web hosting company. Matt received his Professional Scrum Master Certification in 2011. When not creating awesome tools for the web, he enjoys spending time at home with his wife and two little girls, Maci and Lillian.

  • Travis Loudin - Senior Web Developer

    Travis is a Certified Scrum Master and web development veteran, with ten years of professional experience. Prior to joining STACK, he created applications for many different industries through his lead role at an international business incubator. When not jockeying a keyboard, Travis can be found at the ballpark or taking names at table tennis.

    “Programming is equal parts critical thinking and creativity. There's no better feeling than bringing the two together and seeing what you can make.”

  • Andy Haley - Performance Director

    As an Associate Content Director at STACK Media, Andy manages our Expert Contributor Program, creates workouts and training content and oversees the production of our performance video series. A certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), he received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio), where he conducted research for the American College of Sports Medicine. Born and raised outside of Boston, Haley played hockey at the collegiate club level.

    "I’ve always wanted to share my expertise to help athletes improve their performance. At STACK, I have the opportunity to do that on a massive scale by empowering millions of athletes each month."

  • Jordan Zirm - Associate Content Director

    As an Assistant Content Director for STACK Media, Jordan manages the lifestyle beat for the brand. After earning his BS in Journalism from the University of Missouri, he spent time writing for Cleveland Scene Magazine and Complex Media before joining STACK.

    "Being an athlete extends off the field or court, and I enjoy helping athletes with that aspect of the athlete lifestyle."

  • Eric Barnes - Web Content Manager

    Eric is the copy editor at STACK. A former sports editor, writer and columnist, he spent 10 years with The New York Times Company as an editor for print and digital media. Following career stops in Indiana, Georgia and Florida, the Ohio native is happy to be back home and working at STACK HQ in Cleveland.

    "Most of my journalism career has been spent covering high school and college athletes. It's a pleasure to be part of a team dedicated to serving those young athletes by providing content that is engaging, useful and entertaining."

  • Annie Koeblitz - Associate Digital Producer

    Annie is a graduate of Rollins College, where she played on the Women’s Lacrosse team and majored in Critical Media & Cultural Studies and Sociology. At STACK, she writes original content for STACK.com and assists with video production, aspects of social media and grassroots marketing.

    "In past work experiences, my passion for sports had to come second to my job, but at STACK I’m surrounded by athletes and a sports environment that keeps my passion alive while also encouraging me to try new fitness routines and stay in shape. STACK provides the opportunity for me to learn the ins-and-outs of sports media while gaining experience writing original content of my own."

  • Sarah Moscato - Assistant Video Editor

    Sarah began editing in early high school and hasn't stopped since, earning a degree in Electronic Media Production at Kent State. She helps with the post-production on many projects at STACK, with her regard for graphics making sure to add further innovation even after the cameras stop rolling.

    "It's easy to become excited about all our projects in such a tight-knit friendly environment. That's lucky for me, because art powered by muse generates the best outcomes."

  • Emily Benjamin - VP, Integrated Marketing

    As STACK’s Integrated Marketing Director, Emily manages, coordinates, and executes program details from start to finish as well as supporting client service needs. Emily joined STACK in 2010 from Sports Illustrated, where she began her career in client marketing. Before her two-year stint at SI, she spent two years at MSL Sports and Entertainment as an Account Director and Director of Events. Emily's passion for sports and wellness has stayed with her since her days as an All-American on the Penn State women's lacrosse team.

    "Being an athlete, I love that STACK helps young athletes improve themselves on and off the field."

  • Kel Sawyer - Director, Digital Advertising Operations

    As the Director of Digital Ad Ops, Kel leads the creative, technical and revenue processes of brand display and video advertising across STACK’s digital presence. Kel was never an athlete or played any sports. However, he has always had a self awareness of eating healthy and staying fit. His extensive career in media landed him a position at STACK, where he has been forced to step up his game.

  • Brandon Hall - Assistant Content Director

    Brandon Hall is an Assistant Content Director who creates content and helps with the daily operations at STACK. In 2014, he graduated from Lafayette College as an English major and an Anthropology & Sociology minor. He was a 4-year letter winner at tight end for Lafayette's football team, and he helped them win their first outright Patriot League championship since 1994.

    "As an athlete, my biggest joy was seeing my discipline and hard work pay off on the field. I love working at STACK because it gives me the chance to help other athletes be successful."
